TMJ Disorder

The temporomandibular joint is the joint which connects your jaw to your skull. When this joint becomes injured or damaged, it can lead to a localised pain disorder called temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Disorder.

Symptoms of TMJ Disorder include pain in the jaw and face, grinding teeth, headaches and migraines and locking of the joint.

Luckily, Dental on Main has state-of-the-art technology to provide you with the best solutions to ease pain. We use 3D printing to create intra oral appliances (nightguards) that treat grinding of teeth, migraines and facial pain related problems. We also fabricate mouth guards for sports or protection using a fully digital workflow

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea develops when the muscles in your throat relax so much during sleep that your breathing gets blocked temporarily.

Your brain then notices the lack of oxygen in your blood, and wakes you just long enough for your conscious mind to tense the muscles and take a breath. After that, you fall back into a deeper sleep, and the cycle continues. Sleep apnea can lead to snoring and can prevent you from getting sufficient rest that you require that is important to regulate all of our bodily functions. Without the correct amount of rest, no part or process of the body can function at its most optimum level.

Sleep is influenced by so many things in our everyday lives these days. There are also anatomical attributes that can lead to poor sleep outcomes too.

At Dental on Main we have included this in our treatment analysis and ranges, to step in and examine functional sleep issues related to the airway and the anatomy of the neck and jaws to see if there are any procedures or devices that can help you sleep better.

Discrepencies In the quality sleep can drastically affect your health. Obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, lowered immune function and more can all be attributed to lack of quality sleep over time. Over the years, this habit will create enough lack of sleep to potentially cause severe systemic disorders. Snoring during sleep can also affect our loved ones and have a negative impact on any relationship. Silensor or anti snoring intra oral devices can eliminate snoring and ensure that you and your loved ones get the adequate amount of rest that is required.

If we feel that you may have one of the features that may lead to sleep or airway issues, we will investigate to see if there is anything to be done for you. Luckily, we have advanced technological solutions to relieve the symptoms of sleep apnea, and help you get a better night’s rest. At Dental on Main, we use 3D printing to create state-of-the-art individual customised anti-snoring intra oral appliances. We also have advanced 3D CBCT imaging to inspect to the airway and this helps us to fabricate intra oral appliances that is suitable for your jaw configuration and unique situation

Pain Relief and Root Canal Treatments

Unfortunately, toothache is a common problem in most people. Pain can be caused by a cavity, fracture or an infection. Luckily, Dental on Main has a variety of treatments to successfully relieve your pain.

For an infected pulp, we use a root canal treatment to repair and save the tooth. All Root Canal Treatments are performed by an Endodontist Dr Jeanne Redelinghuys, who has specialized in Root canal therapy and utilizes the latest Dental Microscope for optimal treatment in a magnified field that provides the ultimate level of treatment.

For cavities, we seal the area using metal-free fillings or ceramics that match perfectly with your natural teeth. Our metal-free restorations are durable, almost invisible and provide excellent aesthetic results.

Predictable Dentistry

Predicting outcomes of care is important for the peace of mind of both ourselves and our patients.

At Dental on Main, we like to determine the final outcome of all our treatments before the commencement.

You’ll be able to see, feel and experience your desired outcomes beforehand and experience the emotional impact it will have!

Microscope dentistry/Dental magnification

The components of a tooth are minuscule, and often hide signs of disease or damage within. Using microscopic dentistry and dental magnification, we can identify and treat problems as they arise, long before they cause damage or pain.

Our Microscope instruments feature world-renowned optics and crystal-clear visual technology – which means that you get a more accurate diagnosis and more effective treatment plans.

Our Associate Dentist, Dr Jeanne’ Redelinghuys is a specialist in Microscope Dentistry
